We are pleased to announce our Pride Showcase was featured in Texas Monthly in an article on small town LGBTQ movements! Many towns in Texas held their inaugural pride events in the wake of a targeted agenda by the state GOP regarding homosexuality as “an abnormal lifestyle choice”. Among those towns are Bastrop (9,688), Leander (59,202), Pflugerville (65,191), Round Rock (119,468), and Lockhart (14,379). Despite the uncertainty of the future in our state, the outpouring of support has encouraged hope and helped many feel visible in their own communities.
Jen Hamilton Hernandez captured our queer showcase with perennial favorite artist on the garden stage, Creekbed Carter Hogan. Locals and tourists alike gathered on the grass to enjoy the music and the vibrant community gathering. Our event was just one of many of the Lockhart Pride Week which included several Q&A, drag shows, and more!
We look forward to next year's pride event, but in the meantime, all are always welcome at Sunflower & Friends.
