Vintage 1965 Truetone Kay Vanguard II 2 Pickup Electric Guitar - Black Patina
These awesome 1960s Truetone Guitars were manufactured by Kay in Chicago, then sold primarily the in Western Auto catalog. Featuring a beautiful black aged patina finish, a top mounted dual tremolo system, individual volume and tone knobs, and DeArmond/Kay "Pancake" or "Zippo" pickups. Very light body. The bridge pickup has been raised as these pickups were non adjustable, so we've gone in and adjusted the height for better volume and closer distance to strings. This helps the balance significantly as from the factory this had a slightly hottter wound neck pickup than the bridge.
Truss rod works, frets were pressed and re-glued and then leveled.
Set both pickups on and you get a loud thick in-series sound like a Danelectro!
- Upgraded Kluson style tuners
- Bridge has been replaced due to being slightly better than the stock wood bridge
A super cool restored guitar fit for those looking for that 60s lead sound, and a great addition to your studio or jam space!
